Deciding to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the best decision you can ever make. The moment you ask Christ to forgive you of all your sins and to come into your heart as Lord and Savior, you have taken the first step to establish the most rewarding relationship you will ever experience in this lifetime. He will never leave you or forsake you. The Bible states, “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV Version). However, this journey you have begun might not be quite what you thought. You might find the Christian life very challenging at times. The Lord clearly states, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV Version). That is why reading your Bible daily and finding a Bible-believing church to attend is so very crucial. So, I want to encourage you to make a habit of reading the Bible daily and find a church that teaches from the Bible as quickly as possible, and even join a small group within the church you choose. These vital steps will help you along your journey as a Christ follower.
However, if you are a new Christian and still would like to have more help along the way or have found yourself drifting away from your Christian walk, having a Mentor might be just the right fit for you. Or perhaps you have found yourself wondering what it means to be a “born-again’ Christian, or just searching for spiritual answers, I would like to offer my services as a Mentor to you.
I have been a Christ Follower for decades, and have gone through the fires, pain, heartache, loss, suffering, trials, and temptations most all Christians will experience in this lifetime. I am also a retired English Professor of 33 years, have led numerous Bible Studies in my home, taught small groups with the church, and have recently obtained My Leadership certification from Jake’s Divinity School. I believe my experience in teaching, leadership, and life experiences would be beneficial to you if you were to choose to take advantage of the service I offer.
I will add that mentoring is not providing answers to your questions, but rather providing guidance for you to discover the answers you seek. This is achieved through spending time with each other to delve into the answers you are seeking. I will provide you a safe, objective environment to aid you in your spiritual journey. My approach to all mentoring will always be covered in prayer, biblically based and Christ-centered.
